Overview
This contact sheet features a deconstructed zucchini and corn casserole taken by The New York Times Photo Studio. The photo was reviewed and marked by editors, but it was never published. It was found in the “morgue” — the basement repository in Times Square where more than five million pictures are stored. One of the oldest, largest and most comprehensive libraries in the world, it is filled with photos dating back to the turn of the last century.

Editors reviewed contact sheets like this to determine which images to publish in the paper. To maintain the historical integrity of the image, the photograph is reprinted in its original hard-copy condition, showing pencil marks that were used to take notes and select photos for publication.
