Cats Wrapping Paper

Overview

A dog might be man's best friend, but cats were a newspaper's favorite subject in the 1800s and early 1900s. Articles about cats with peculiar habits, strange powers and extraordinary achievements appeared on a regular basis in The Times. This eco-friendly wrapping paper is a homage to all the remarkable cats reported in the pages of The Times.

This colorful wrapping paper was inspired by the original designs of Lou Silverstein, the previous art director for The Times, who developed patterned newspaper pages that were mailed to potential advertisers. The spirit of these original illustrations were interpreted by Paulina Ho, a designer and artist based in New York City.

Our eco-friendly wrapping paper is printed on recycled newsprint with soy-based ink by local newspaper presses, utilizing less resources and energy while supporting local businesses. Each package includes four sheets of double-sided gift wrapping paper. Paper arrives flat and folded in a plastic-free PLA bag made of plant starch. The full sheet size is 21.5" x 34."

It is made by Wrappily, a women-owned business based in Hawaii that was founded in 2013 to answer a global need for a smarter, more sustainable gift wrap.
